GOP and the Northern Strategy

It's not going to work.

Some of you have, as I have, been reading about Rand Paul talking to black college kids about what black folks need in terms of government (think Mitt Romney's little NAACP misadventure).  I've dubbed this the "Northern Strategy" because since slavery times, it seems, black folks have fled northward for one reason or another...whether it was to Canada (where slavery was never legal to begin with) or the Northern States (where slavery was abolished without a war, if I may point out).

And I was saying, it's not going to work.

Call me a cynic, but when I look at Barack Obama, I don't see a political failure.  If anything, I see one of the greatest political coups in human history.

I don't believe the Dems nominated him because they thought he was The Guy to fix the economy or end all war on Earth or usher in the infamous "post-racial society".  That wasn't the ultimate goal.  When running their campaigns in 2008 and even 2012, the Democrats weren't just thinking about 2008 or 2012, or even 2016.  They were thinking about 2052.  They were thinking about 2080.  They were thinking about the 22nd Century, all future elections for generations to come (and may the gods forbid we still have the same governmental structure...but I digress).

And the best way to ensure future victories was to attempt to permanently co-opt the ancestors of future American generations - people of color, gays, lesbians, transgendered individuals, immigrants, you name it - they co-opted the very demographic trend feared and loathed by the GOP.  And in so doing, they essentially delivered a killing blow to their political rivals.

The job of every Standard Bearer is to make his or her party look good, and no one's made the Dems look this good since, well...Bill Clinton.

Now, granted, it's not all Obama, nor his excellent coalition.  After the Bush Administration, and the unveiling of the Palin Beast, the Dems found themselves with soooooo much to work with.  Mitt Romney's campaign was just one of the final coffin nails.  In many ways, the Republicans lent a helping hand in their own demise, and they've continued with that oh so generous hand outstretched.

The Northern Strategy is not going to work, because the supposedly spineless, bleeding-heart liberals are far more ruthless than their conservative counterparts ever imagined them to be.  I myself am not a Democrat, and find myself hard-pressed to actually believe what most of them have to say.  And I really had come to perceive them as spineless, dickless sissies.  But they're straight-up Machiavellian, y'all.  I mean, let's be real...POC and white liberals don't really like each other.   The Christians, Jews, pagans, Muslims, etc. are not BFFs, and will not become BFFs any time this millennium.  There's still a hell of a lot for the straight kids to learn about the gay kids.  And we holier-than-thou cissexuals really need to shut up get over our goddamn selves.

That being said...we all do possess a common foe.

One whom we all revile quite deeply and without any restraint.  And we have all our reasons, and we have all our agendas, but that the GOP be pimp-slapped back into the soulless abyss from whence it came is our most sacred duty and heartfelt common fantasy.

Negro bait didn't work.  Clarence Thomas didn't work.  Michael Steele didn't work.  Shelby Steele didn't work.  Hermain Cain...*blinks rapidly several times*.  Angela McGowan fooled no one and Mia Love, for all her chatter about Congress and ish, might as well stay put in Utah.

The Northern Strategy will not work.  It (primarily) involves phony, white male narcissists rewriting American history and telling people of color who they are, what they need, and what they should do next, and they're doing this in an era where most POC in general would prefer that white folks - in general - would stop talking at us.

Lastly, on the Blasian Narrative, while we were discussing the latest bout of anti-Asian bile, a commenter brought up the trend of white folks kissing up to Latinos as Latinos are slated to become the new majority.  I caution my fellow brown brothers and sisters from falling for this bullshit.  For whilst these men kiss both sides of thy brown cheeks, trust and believe they are racking their brains trying to figure out how to turn back the tide.  I mean, these are the same folks who practiced genocide and eugenics on this very same soil.  If they can find an initially subtle way to knock Latinos back to vulnerable minority status, they will do it in a heartbeat.

Now, I'm gonna go fix myself a drink.  But before I do, I want to give a shout-out to mainstream music right quick.  Macklemore, Rick Ross, Brad Paisely, and LL Cool J...wow.  *shakes head*.  Y'all.  Y'all are precisely the reason why I'm musically stuck it the 1990s and damn near every decade which came before.  'Cause whether it was the funk/soul of the 70s, the pop of the 80s, or the rock, hip-hop, R &B, and New Age of the 90s...it's all better than the pure, steaming ball of musical shit coming out of the 21st Century.

*sniffs and nods*  Deuces.

  1. What is hilarious about the "Latino strategy" is that they cannot stop the rampant "foot in mouth" disease that plagues their party.
Too many of them have made a living being totally transparent about their feelings about POC, so I'm not sure how all of the first generation Latino kids who are turning 18 and have grown up being called "anchor babies" are going to be lured into the GOP.
Here's a recent fave...and they can't keep their party members from saying this kind of stuff on the record.http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2020664574_congressslurxml.html

And I they have a love/hate relationship with Asians. They like to use them as an example of model minorities who don't take handouts (which some of them do lap up) but they don't want them to have real power, plus we know the stereotypes imposed on Asian women and men are very problematic (and don't get fair treatment since most of the stereotypes are seen as "positive"...you know, it's a compliment to say we want to sex your women and your men are super nerds).

Their feelings never went away. They are just focused on Asia at the moment. You should see some of the comments whenever immigration is the topic of an article or blog. They are saying one thing to your face (you guys are awesome) and another (stop taking our jobs) behind your back.

  3. Nope..whether its the Northern, Southern, Eastern or Western strategy..the method is dead.

My family and I had a discussion about Obama's departure from office. They are concerned about another powerful person who isnt a Republican feeling his shoes. For the first time in my life, I told them confidently, the chances of a non-GOP person being president is still good. I didn't think that a Black man would become president, but Obama did..twice. Even with media, they are somewhat pessimistic about the GOP's recovery. The GOP has screwed up big time. Did they really think that any level headed minority would vote for someone who put them down? I mean the homophobia, the intense racism, economic prejudice, xenophobia and religious prejudice. Did they REALLY..REALLY believe that someone was going to vote for their party? I can't forget Mr. 47 percent comments about us and the Voting Rights Act. I cannot vote for a party who want to cause my demise. Of course you have a few of us who are so brainwashed to vote for them, but most of us wont for good reason.Even as of today, some of those same people are still acting like spoiled brats basically as the creator of one website says "Different day, same S---".that is all their strategy is .They just cannot get over their hatred of Obama.

The GOP tries to target demographics they think they can manipulate. They think about the Golden Days where Latinos carried them and with the Asians, like most racist they think that they are pushovers. Far as Black folk, they try to convince us that they are down with Black people, yet when Chris Christie, himself a Republican, thanked Obama for helping victims of Hurricane Sandy, his own party didn't invite him to their recent convention. That told me a lot right there..that thanking a Democratic Black president is detrimental to their health and with this mess with Jay-Z and Beyonce going to Cuba? I just see it was the GOP trying criminalize innocent POC's. I will never be convinced of their " friendship".

I don't care what race you are, if you're values aren't conducive with mine, Im not going to vote for you. It is as simple as that and after all of this ugliness that took place with this elections, Im definitely will not vote for them. They aren't sincere in their talks. Rand Paul only came to Howard for a photo op,nothing more.

  4. Even if they learn to stop planting their feet firmly in their mouths, it's as you say: the GOP is done. They're counting on everyone having the memory of a goldfish, but I don't think anyone is gonna forget the ridiculous crap they've been spewing. They have no one to blame but themselves for the fall of their vile party and the rise of their less-awful rivals.

Also, that "accidental racist" song can go die in a fire, and so can the singers and whoever wrote that crap.
