Are we...are we serious?

From TIME Magazine:

Two of R & B’s biggest stars — one much-loved, the other much less so — got into a fight this morning outside of a Westlake recording studio, reports TMZ. Frank Ocean and Chris Brown reportedly got into a fight over one of the most valuable items known to denizens of Los Angeles: a good parking space.

According to TMZ, who seemingly only spoke to people associated with Brown, Ocean started it:
As Chris went to leave [the studio], Frank Ocean and his crew blocked Chris from leaving. The sources say Frank said, ‘This is my studio, this is my parking spot.’ We’re told Chris went to shake Frank’s hand … and that’s when one of Frank’s people attacked Chris … one of Chris’ friends jumped in front and hit Frank’s friend … Frank then came at Chris … Chris pushed him away and they started brawling.

Ocean took to Twitter with his own version of the skirmish, though, which put the onus on Brown:
got jumped by chris and a couple guys. lol. i only wish everest was there.—

(If you’re wondering who Everest is, according to the New York Times, it’s not Ocean’s bodyguard, but rather his Bernese mountain dog.)

Police were called to the scene, but Brown had apparently already decamped, leaving Ocean to give his account to authorities. According to TMZ, Ocean is being referred to as “the victim” by the cops; he claims that Brown punched him after the parking space faceoff. Ocean says he may have been injured in the fight. He tweeted:
cut my finger now I can't play w two hands at the grammys.—

Frank Ocean was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, while Brown was nominated for one. At this year’s ceremony, Brown may be performing a duet with ex-girlfriend Rihanna, with whom he has an extremely troubled Grammys history. The day of the 2009 ceremony, Brown physically attacked the Barbadian singer, sending her to the hospital. He was charged with assault and is on probation until 2014 after pleading guilty.

For his part, Brown has been silent on the social media site about the situation. Police are reportedly looking to speak with him about the incident, although neither party wishes to press charges.

    2. Yes, I feel like I'm my mom b/c I don't know who the heck he is. But I also only know Janelle Monae through pictures (have never heard her music), and also didn't know who Nicky Minaj was until she got a MAC lipstick. Ditto with Azaelia Banks.
      I guess I'm officially old.

    3. Ocean actually caused a stir by coming out this summer as bisexual. From what I've heard, he actually seems like good peeps.

And will somebody bench Chris Brown's tired ass? Thank you.

    4. @Nicthommi Frank Ocean is pretty good, in my opinion. And you haven't checked out Janelle Monae's music?! Get on that! She's amazing. I saw her live back in 2011 and she killed it! I can't wait for her new album!

    5. @Nicthommi: I don't know who Janelle Monae is either. Matter of fact, if you do a roll-call of today's rap/r&b/pop artists, I might be good for two of them.

And I'm perfectly fine with this.

    6. I don't listen to the radio so a lot of artist, I've seen their names online but I've never heard their music.
I got Frank Ocean's album cause it was only $5 on Amazon but it is boring.

Janelle Monae - I only listen to Tightrope
Nicky Minaj downloaded one song of hers because my friend said it was good, I disagree.

Azaelia Banks keep hearing she is good but have not got around to listening to any of her songs.

      in conclusion, I am old

    7. I'm the same way, haven't listened to the radio since 2008. Find all new music online and avoid the trash they are promoting these days.

  3. Someone needs to tell Chris and Rihanna that they are not and never will be Ike and Tina. Rihanna will not have a career spanning decades and spawning classics, and she will not be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Chris will never attain the ranks of Ike Turner and OJ Simpson; ergo, he needs to stop trying. Fighting with Frank Ocean over a parking space is an all-new low, and not just for him...for me.

I need to go do a music post now.

Never saw the hype with Chris Brown, and that was before The Assault Heard Around The World.

  5. I'm going to be honest. I don't know enough about Frank Ocean aside from him coming out, but I will say that I've past done with Chris Brown. One can only know what happened here, but since Brown is in it, I can only speculate that either he or someone in his entourage started something unnecessary. Again, this is going by assumption.

It's obvious that Chris Brown has some screws loose. Yet, he is in complete denial of that. Why> Mostly because people around him apparently are too complacent and quiet to say and do anything. He finds himself in trouble at least every three months or so. He needs to wake up and realize that. He needs to realize that even if some incidents were caused by others, he needs to understand why and wholly take responsibility for his actions.

I could talk about why he acts out, but I'm tired of explanations. Chris Brown lost my respect and continues to give me reasons why. And the same can be said for the industry for turns a blind eye to such behavior. So, none of us should be surprised if Chris gets his ass in trouble again, and again.

    That's just my two cents.

  6. This is ridiculous. Fighting over a damn parking space?! I'm not here to play the blame game, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Brown started this, then again I could be wrong. Both parties are at fault until one is proven innocent.
Also, who would go and see Chris and Drake fight?! Wait, why would you pay to see Chris and Drake fight? People are ridiculous.

  7. I'm going to try and suppress the Frank Ocean fangirl in me for a moment in an effort to keep an open mind to the possibility Ocean started it. Even if it's a lot more likely Brown did it because he's infamous for doing idiotic things like this.
