Really? Seriously? Another Mass Shooting?

Remember when I said that in this country, we always feel as though we've just had a mass shooting?  Peep this:

  1. Let's also point out how they were quick to say "terrorism" which I saw on the NBC News...so they don't know who did it, but you know, it involves brown people who aren't Christian and who wear turbans so yeah, let's start calling them terrorists when they have likely lost women and children in the massacre.

I'm kind of tired of the definition of terrorism to mean "crimes committed by people who aren't white"...

  2. He's been described as a balding-white-male, about 40 years of age; with 9/11 tattooed on his arm. As I have said before... "When privilege no longer offers the white male comfort, the last friend he has in the whole-wide-world is his gun." And yes, they'll be more incidents like this. Now let’s wait for the mental health assessments to come in, because we all know it wasn’t his fault.

    1. Well, since is a white guy, they won't be throwing "terrorism" around, b/c white people NEVER do that...

  3. My family has been glued to CNN and it was so damn infuriating that the news anchors could not even be bothered to get their terminology right during the first few hours. Repeatedly referring to a Gurdwara as a "Church" is incredibly disrespectful, ignorant and downright lazy. Also, the amount of dancing the media did around the terrorist's race was really something. I heard "bald," "male," and "sleeveless shirt" all day. But the fact that the guy was white? I think it came up only a handful of times, and mostly from the Sikh victims' family members.

  4. I heard about this shooting today on Al-Jazeera. I said to myself mocking them as they do with us, "Again??? What is up with these white men? They must be watching too much Fox News. Where are the parents of this guy? No wonder the white community is out of control!"

Apparently, CNN dropped this nugget of fail: "Sikh people are not Muslim, but Hindu. They can be easily mistaken for Muslim or Taliban."

I do not know even where to start with that shit.

(I read this tweet about it initially via Melissa McEwan at Shakesville)

O_O I saw only the first half of that quote last night, and felt a headache coming on. Reading the whole thing now makes it even worse.

  6. Quoted from the linked article:
"It was not immediately clear why local police were classifying the shooting as domestic terrorism.

Federal law enforcement officials told NBC News the suspected gunman had no obvious connection to domestic terror or white supremacist groups and apparently was not on any list of suspected terrorists."

Gotta love it. "It was not immediately clear"...that just kills me. Well it was only a bunch of brown people lying there dead. And really if the person doing the terrorizing isn't brown themselves - then how on earth could it be considered terrorism?

If it wasn't so damn sad I'd be laughing. They are genuinely confused. And I bet that will be the first and last time the idea of calling this guy a domestic terrorist ever comes up.

    1. How many people do you have to kill at once to be labeled a terrorist?

    2. Because in this nation White=Good. White skin has become equated with true-blue American; so its almost impossible for white authorities to label one of their own as “Terrorist,” because it might make all white people look bad. Often their first instinct is to look for other mitigating circumstances; so Terrorist is the last label on their list. Course, its a no-brainier if people of color commit similar crimes. For too long white people have overlooked the rage festering in their own neighborhoods, because they’re too busy monitoring people of color.

    3. When I first heard about this senseless shooting, the Sikhs said that the gunman had many tatoos and a bald head. I automatically thought "white supremacist". Turns out, I was right. He was once the leader of a Neo-Nazi band according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

    4. To me,a person who inflicts violence is a terrorist. This man was racist and a terrorist.I hate how they try to sugarcoat it.Some people say they were targeted because of their religion. It s the likely reason that the incident took place, but they probably would be prone to such violence even if they weren't Sikhs. To racists like him if they aren't White, they aren't right

karma's a bitch, chickens come home to roost etc. First time in they lives they feeling it like how we always feel it. I wonder how long those feelings will last and what effect if any it might have on this whole white boys gone crazy thing.

Now one can dream...of them "putting down" their own crazies before they go out and kill more peeps. Not holding my breath, just dreamin tho.

  8. Wow, I was just about to e-mail you about this, but you beat me to the punch. :D

Damn. I just...DAMN. The white people who did the shooting are the real terrorists here, and it's well past time that the media started wising up and referring to them as such.

The odds are probably about a quintillion to one that they will, though.

Damnit, it's that time again? Time for the media to play "Guess that Mental Disorder" because Lord knows just calling this ass the hateful, terrorist bastard he is would be too much like right.

Mental disorders, less than rosy childhood, harsh experiences in school - feel free to take your pick and add more as to why this poor, poor dear isn't responsible for his actions.

    2. And we all know that if he were Black or Brown and shot up a bunch of White people, the White blogosphere would be all over it saying, "Kill those __________!" No "reasonable" explanation, no mental disorders, no compassion.

  10. If you are black/brown then you're a terrorist. If white then they had a bad childhood or is mentally disrupted.
Man, kiss all of my backside with the media's bias logic. That's why I only have one more month in this hellhole,
Good bye Crazy white people, Hello Korea :)
