Contemplating "Bayard Rustin"

H/T to Transgriot

Our job is not to get those people who dislike us to love us. Nor was our aim in the civil rights movement to get prejudiced white people to love us. Our aim was to try to create the kind of America, legislatively, morally, and psychologically, such that even though some whites continued to hate us, they could not openly manifest that hate.”

~ Bayard Rustin (1912-1987)

  1. Yeah, it's a given that haters gonna hate. But it matters that there are consequences to such blatant and deadly expressions of hatred. We don't want people thinking they can just get away with killing/humiliating/threatening us. They need to know there are legal repercussions and that in the eyes o the law and society our lives are worth something.

  2. This is why Amerikkka is such a racist country. It's not enough to simply dislike a group of people; Amerikkka seeks to damage and destroy the people, rather than mind its own business, live and let live.
