I SAID I Needed a Detox

All those emoids on The Vampire Diaries left me needing a fix.

Here Gina Carano engages in what the lil sis refers to as "Not Today" behavior. We've seen countless women attacked in their apartments (often from behind), but instead of just dropping to the floor and moaning, MMA fighter Carano says, "Uh - not today!"

If you haven't fallen in love Thai warrior princess Jeeja Yanin...I don't know what you're doing with your life.

"Serve vampires? Naw, boo-boo - I SLAY vampires."

Can't go wrong with a classic.

Now you know why she's one of the warriors I have loved.

*speechless*

"Vampire. Slayer. Dead vampire." GOD, I MISS JOSS WHEDON!!!! *burst into tears*

Featuring Navi Rawat as the Psycho Slayer.

  1. RE: The Slayers

What I love about the Slayers was that Buffy was their weakest link. She was the Slayer who dated vampires and shit. So it was always hilarious whenever vampires got too chummy, too comfortable with other Slayers, because the other Slayers - whether it was Kendra, or Faith, or Dana (Navi Rawat) - would be like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa...I am not Buffy. Don't get it twisted. I'm a vampire slayer and I don't discriminate."

  2. Ya' know I never enjoyed Buffy quite as much as you did,but I liked it. What happened? Buffy,Xena,Alias...we had some bad ass women on those shows and not only were those women bad ass, they were the leads and with Buffy and Alias you were guaranteed a good ass fight scene once a week. Is there anything on like that now-a-days? Or all these broads on tv just trying to look cute? Thanks for the rip down memory lane.

    1. I was spoiled back then. We had Xena & X-files and so I was a huge critic of Buffy Summers. She whined way too much. But after the past several years, I'm starting to miss the heffa. At least she whooped some ass.

    2. I appreciate Buffy's more emotional approach. It humanized her for me and I liked that fact that even though she emoted and was sometimes confused about what she wanted when it came down to it she would chose to do the right thing regardless of her personal desires, I liked seeing that struggle. Not every bad ass needs to be a stiff-lipped, trash talker or a cool cucumber.

Girl we were both spoiled back in them days.I write Merlin fanfic for Guinevere of course and fandom is clamoring for a female BAMF.

    3. All the Slayers, I feel, were emotional, vulnerable, and flawed in their own ways. All were very human (though Kendra really was more of a living weapon). I could have easily watched a show which strictly focused on any of them - Nikki, Dana, Xin Rong, Kendra, or Faith. In fact, Faith (along with the vampire Spike) almost got her own show, but the actress turned it down because she was getting typecast as a bad girl and she wanted to show her range.

(IMO, by the way...Eliza Dushku should've just stuck to playing bad girls. It comes naturally for her.)

    4. Any of the slayers could have had their own spin-off shows too bad they didn't. I just rewatched that psycho slayer video I feel a Buffy rewatch coming on.

Its ironic that Xena and Buffy, and JJ Abrahams came up on the same network that is now bringing us TVD. I wish this division between BW/WW could end so we could work tackle these problems together.

    1. If you love Raging Phoenix that you will definitely like Clash, its dramatic and has romance but the chick in it is a boss and has no problem putting dudes in their place! And it has a hot guy in it, his name is Johnny Nguyen, google him :)

  4. I just watched all of them. Wow do they bring back memories. WTF happened? We had Xena, Buffy, Alias, Veronica Mars. The only thing that comes to mind is Nikita.

One thing I can say about Buffy, for all her whining, the show constantly called her out on it instead of treating it like acceptable behavior.

Also here's one to check out also. Her name is Nikki Stanley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A5TdiQdVIM

    1. And for all its virtues, Nikita is flawed as hell.

    2. NP I love Alias, not only did we have a female BAMF, but she was an adult in modern setting. I like action-adventure genre, but I love it when the leads are grown-up instead of teens or college-aged.

I haven't gotten into Nikita. The ads I saw for the program make it look as if it relies more on its female lead's attractiveness and less on her BAMF-ness.

    3. @K, very true but I"m more comfortable with little girls wanting to emulate her than I am say Elena or Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl.

@Strange Sista, oh no, it's pretty action packed. Given Maggie Q's track record as an action star, I wouldn't expect anything less. In a lot of respects I would say Nikita can give Alias a run for its money.

      No argument there.
