9 out of 10 Times, Just Go with "Yes" (Updated)
It’s frustrating that non-white women are rarely portrayed as equally attractive as white women.
It’s frustrating when I am attracted to a white woman and have to wonder if Eurocentrism is warping my perception.

No, no...I'm here to talk about his love interest in Kick-Ass.
She's the "pretty" girl who initially thinks he's too good for him, then tries to be his friend because she thinks he's gay and has apparently longed for a gay boyfriend to call her own, and then ends up going out with him. Through it all, in his eyes, this bitch can do no wrong.
Now, let's look at her through my eyes.
But that's not what gets me.
As the love interest in this film, her job is basically to be stuck-up, self-centered, and eventually unleash the white woman tears. She doesn't really "do" anything and by the end of the film, any viewer with brain cells might pause to wonder exactly what purpose she serves.
But that's not what gets me.
What gets me is how her eventual boyfriend describes her during their obligatory fight: lovely, kind, decent, etc. And that really gets to me.
This heffa got her face broken while fucking around with the drug-dealing leader of a gang. And later, when she and the leading male become a couple, she fucks him behind a comic book store, up against a grimy dumpster. Yet we at home aren't supposed to pause and ask WTF is wrong with this girl. Not once is she held accountable for her mess, nor is her behavior questioned - not once. She's just told things are not are her fault and that there's nothing wrong with her.
Men of color, if you find yourselves drawn to white women onscreen and in real life and you're not sure why, just go ahead and attribute it to Eurocentric conditioning, because although POC are more vigilant, we are not immune. Day after day you are told white women are literally perfect, and you are not given half the chance to question anything about them, nor assume that they have any flaws. When they tan, you're not supposed to question. When they plump their lips, tits, or backsides, you're not supposed to question. When they add tracks of Asian hair to their own, you're not supposed to question. When they can't do anything for themselves, don't seem to know anything, and don't appear to serve any kind of purpose, you're still not supposed to question, but you are supposed to feel insecure and unworthy all the while.
And right there, MoC, is your cue to question.
So question. Demand what is so special about a white girl you're digging both onscreen and in person. Ask yourselves aloud what the hell this woman does that is so great, other than cry, be catered to, and abstain from eating. If you just want to fuck her, that's one thing, but if you want to actually date her, then questions must be asked. That is the responsible thing to do when pursuing an actual relationship. Because along with the Cookie Cutter Cutie trope, TVTropes.org provides us with the Faux Action Girl trope, in which an alleged female bad-ass's abilities are told to the audience, but never shown. A similar reasoning applies here; I call it the Faux Worthy Love Interest trope, and I am beyond tired of it.
Don't just assume her kindness and decency without proof. Don't believe she's smart and funny just because she tells you she is, or someone else says that about her. Make sure you get to see all this shit for yourself. Because if you find yourself having trouble seeing any other benefits beyond her whiteness, then your question should never be, "Am I good enough for her?" but rather, "Is she good enough for me?"
**Update** Another helpful test is reversal. Take Lyndsy Fonseca's role as "Katie" - keeping it exactly as it is, with everything she says and does - and make her Black. Not Asian, not Latina - Black. Once you've created that clear picture in your minds, ask yourselves honestly if 1) you'd still be digging her this much, and 2) if the audience would be this tolerant and forgiving of her behavior. Always check for that particular inequality. Because if it seems like something "only the white girl gets away with", then congratulations...your Eurocentric brainwashing was successful, and you need some serious help.
