Contemplating "Retribution"

As a side note it seems that not a lot of people take the recent riots in Vancouver, British Columbia, as seriously as the violence orchestrated by poor black youth. The Vancouver rioters were mostly young and white, and it was over the result of a hockey game. Shouldn’t that be a cause for concern as well? But, I digress.

Black youth, as they have always been, have become poster children for crime in this nation, and black adults have become representatives of failing, dysfunctional parenthood with no explantion other than the fact they are black. Racists see these mob attacks as examples of black-on-white crime, crimes against whites by blacks out of racial hatred without so much as considering the history of whites attacking blacks for many years. In conclusion racists will chop this up as “evidence” of the innate, savage nature of black people.

...Another reason why these crimes are so widespread in the media is because most of the vicitms are white. A black person assaulting, murdering, or raping a white person is instant news. The news of these crimes help magnify the fears whites have of being attacked by black people. However, some of the fear comes from a sense of historical retribution, getting back at the white man for the injustices of slavery, Jim Crow, etc, all organized by whites in this nation.

Even though there have been–and will be–cases of whites being the vicitms of crimes by blacks, in a historical sense it was still miniscule compared to white-on-black crimes which still occur to this day. Plus, most black-on-white crimes occur not because the vicitms were white, but because the perpetrator saw an opportunity to get something from them by any means just as if the vicitm was the same race. It wouldn’t make a difference who it was as long as they have something they desperately want and are in their crosshairs like a criminal of any race.

~ BrothaWolf, "Raging Youth"
If you ask me, I say let the youth rage on.

Revolutions aren't begun by the comfortably privileged; they are started by the young who have nothing to lose.  Take, take, take, take, take from a people, and whattaya know...they eventually come looking for what's theirs.

BrothaWolf breaks down the issue here quite well, explaining where these youth come from and what's triggering their wrath, but we all know most white people don't care.  In their minds, "black," "poor," and "violent" are merely synonyms which belong safely caged on the other side of the tracks.  They don't want to know the reality or history of things, they certainly don't want to care, and they sure as hell aren't going to be doing any heaving lifting.  So I say, let the youth rage on.

Some will call it karma; others will call it a simple matter of cause and effect in the universe.  If you ask me, a rose by any other name is still a rose.  Let the youth rage on.

BrothaWolf expresses sympathy to the victims' families.  He's a good soul.  Me?  I blinked when the news of Columbine dominated the airwaves.  I blinked when the planes brought the towers down.  I blinked when I read and heard reports of increasing Anti-American sentiments from the outside world.  Now I'm reading that young black Chicago youth are poor, tired, and so sick of it that they're taking matters into their own hands.

*blink* Let the youth rage on.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.  All things have beginnings and endings; everything has to come from somewhere.  If you are living comfortably and without worries in a world where most people are not (and they really are not), then you must ponder at whose expense your comfort came.  Contrary to popular belief, it ain't about hard work.  Half of y'all reading this work full-time (and a half) and have advanced degrees, but you still have trouble paying bills in full, so you know what I mean. For every privilege, there is a price which someone else has to pay.  And when they get sick of bankrolling other people's happiness, a certain measure of raging is imminent.  And they won't be afraid to do some heavy lifting.

Hell...bless the youth.  May their wrath flow in waves; may the tides ride high and engulf the empire.  May there be no boundary left untouched by the fury of the flood.

By all means...let the youth rage on.

  1. I'm not surprised out all at the reactions to the Vancouver riots. Same thing happened when I was an undergrad and drunk white college kids had 4 off campus riots involving flipping over cars, arson and throwing glass bottles at police officers.

All sort of excuses and justifications were made for the rioters behavior. It was even said that the cops were wrong to use tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.

But when we get angry about the double standard, we're told it's because because of our innate anger and barbarism.

But there is no double standard! Blacks are the racist ones for pointing out the racism! It's the whites who suffer!

I'm not racist because I have a black friend, I like Oprah, I dated a black person once, I eat KFC, it's not my fault black people are angry et freaking cetera.

    End scene :P

Moreover, one must ponder, “when is my time coming?” as nothing good lasts.” We’ve seen a steady decline in the housing market— a downturn in revenue, as manufacturing dries up and more jobs go overseas. A 14 trillion dollar debt looms over this nation like an ominous cloud. Perpetual war has all but drained our coffers/confidence, threatening our standing in the world. Natural disasters have wreaked havoc on our sprit. The American dream… this, “American Empire” is fading fast. Soon we shall discover that we have more in common with those who ‘don’t have’ as opposed to those that do.

For Centuries people of color have been subjected to white rage- white hatred; white greed/corruption and white oppression. These grave sins have come back to bite the white man on his ass. White birth rates are on the decline; consequently the stage has been set for another dispensation in which whites are no longer preeminent. Thus when this rage goes global whites won’t be safe. All of those non-white spaces where whites have created havens for themselves will prove inhospitable. Hence, they’ll have no one to blame but themselves.

White anger/rage is always justifiable in white eyes. People of color see it for the hypocrisy it is and scoff.

Lastly, I am reminded of a short story I read years ago entitled, "The Other Foot" by Ray Bradbury.
“Mars has been colonized solely by black people. When they learn that a rocket is coming from Earth with white travelers, they institute a Jim Crow system of racial segregation in which white people are to be considered second-class citizens, in retaliation for the history of wrongs perpetrated on their race by white people. When the rocket lands, the traveler tells them that most of the Earth has been destroyed in a war and asks for their help. The people realize that discrimination is harmful in all its forms, and reverse their planned segregation.”

Given the nature of whites; does anyone believe they would settle for second-class minority status on a new world? Or would they do everything in their power to recreate the status quo they enjoyed on earth before its demise . I can see how a white writer would want to avoid such a quandary, believing blacks would simply turn the other cheek, but I feel otherwise. Judging from the experience we have with whites, those blacks would be wise to mind their guests carefully, lest history repeat itself. Blacks didn’t trust whites on earth, so they sure as hell wouldn’t trust them on Mars. I mean look what happened on Avatar.

  5. In the capital of my homestate of South Carolina there was a report that a white teen was attacked by eight black teens. Soon after, there was another report that city officials started a curfew for teens because of the attack.

If this was an attack by white teens or if this was an attack by white teens on a black teen, I doubt the city would even think about establishing curfews. The state wants to make an example out of the black youth as the rest of this nation has always been.

    What do ya think?

The same thing you do, but with less sympathy for those who have no sympathy for us.

...and Bradbury unleashes an all-new level of fail. I'm too amused by this bullshit to get mad. How pathetic is this?

  8. Great post. I am reminded me of the civil unrest by Black & Brown youth in the Paris "suburbs" aka Ghettos and how Sarkozy demonized them for their anger.

I didn't blink when the Towers went down because it was personal. I know people who died in those buildings and most of them were hard working POC.

Wonderful post Brotha Wolf. A timely reminder of the consequences of centuries of racism, colonialism and exploitation.

  10. @ M. Gibson

For the first time, more than half of the children under age 2 in the U.S. are minorities

*chuckles and shakes head* Um...if more than half of children under 2 are of color, how are they the minority?

That writer needs to just let the word go already.

I'm more worried about the youth that came at this white teen. Chances are they will be punished more severely since their victim is a white boy. The message they're sending once again is that the lives of young whites are more important than the lives of young blacks.

Thanks for checking out my post Lenoxave.

Understood, but you also expressed sympathy for the teen's family - a very enlightened and civilized thing to do.

What I'm saying is that I'm Frosty the Snowbitch. I have a darker outlook. Punishing our children severely is only going to make them angrier. Crucifying these kids is going to be a huge mistake. If Chicago is "concerned" now, they're going to be downright terrified pretty soon. Because we're not running out of kids of color; as M. Gibson points out, they're just multiplying. Each wave is going to be less tolerant of this bullshit than the last.

Hence my mantra: let the youth rage on. Let them back the PTB into a corner. Let them burn that shit to the ground.

    Lol
Much too entrenched isn’t it? Eric Cartman, believing himself to be the “sole survivor of the white race” is rescued by Mexicans in a raft and even then he still sees THEM as the minority; not the other way around. I mean we all know that minorities are either brown or black skinned right?

I agree. Punishing them will make them more angrier than before, and those that crucify them will only have themselves to blame in the very end.

Haha I read that book in 8th grade English class and I called BS on how Blacks would supposedly just forgive and forget. Typical "White guilt hoping for forgiveness" BS, When I read that whites had destroyed the Earth, I rolled my eyes "but of course they did!" Yes, we'd probably be the bigger person, but let Whites come in with an attitude and it would be over.

God, I can only hope. The city and the surrounding suburbs have had something like this coming for a long time. And there's nothing more terrifying for those living in comfort than to have those being exploited or discriminated be justified in their anger and rebellion.
