Monsieur Nov ~ "Tous le Jours, Tous le Soirs"

Some of you have already watched this a couple of thousand times on the Blasian Narrative, but very quickly, I want to point out (once again) how Europe is ahead of America.

French-Vietnamese R&B/neo-soul artist Monsieur Nov has made a popular music video featuring some steamy Blasian activity, while in America, Aaliyah & Jet Li and Naomie Harris & Rain couldn't even get kisses in feature-length films where people got killed...every which way.

Most of Monsieur Nov's videos follow a similar pattern to this one, by the way, but this is the only one who's commenting had to be disabled.

And yes, I'm well aware of the "video vixenness" of the woman in the video.

Some might argue that he has to follow this pattern to make his money; not really.  He could appeal to the ever expanding Asian markets.  He could even appeal to white Western markets, especially if he manipulated his image just right (i.e., neuter himself and then play off the whole "not black but still POC" factor).  He'd probably make far more money than he's making right now.

Very Rough Lyrics Translation (not mine):

"Every Day, Every Night"

I love your skin
I love your lascivious poses
what you propose
also about my baby is listening
It is likely that I am not as wise as you think
I shake the habits
You will clothes off our bed table and beat ..
We will not make it short
I will walk into your curves
if you let me put me at ease
I know I never let myself

Chorus: Do you like, I’ll ask every day, every day (x2)
What you want I ask you for every night, every night (x2)
What you want ...

I will be pro, I love what you have
tonight you will love how I proceed
your body will be my project
verse 2
It is possible that I am not as wise as you like it
I shake all our quirks
this is my baby so I will know how you handle
We’ll do it tenderly, louder if that’s what you ask
and if you let me lose myself between your legs ...

Chorus: Do you like, I’ll ask every day, every day (x2)
What you want I ask you for every night, every night (x2)
What you want ...

I will be pro, I love what you have
tonight you will love how I proceed
your body will be my project
It is possible that I am not as wise as you like it
I shake all our quirks
this is my baby so I will know how you handle
We’ll do it tenderly, louder if that’s what you ask
and if you let me lose myself between your legs ...

Chorus: Do you like, I’ll ask every day, every day (x2)
What you want I ask you for every night, every night (x2)
What you want ...

We’ll do that in the (x4) in the kitchen, bathroom, dining room, the room, on the table in the lounge.
and we will at any time and anywhere
that much we will connect
The ground floor against the wall (x8)

Chorus

In the original French:

J’aime ta peau
j’aime tes poses lassif
si tu me laisses me mettre à laise

ton corps sera mon projet

  1. He ain't willing to sell his soul to make a buck...and have less of an impact. Reason enough to like him (as if the video doesn't do it by spades).

The pacing of the piece puts me in the mind of D'Angelo, but flavored- with just a hint of R. Kelly. He sounds very soulful. This musical genre is not my forte for I’m a jazz man; but I love the bass-line. I was wondering what the reaction in the west would be if those fawning 'vixens of color' were white women instead? Some young white men have a keen fetish for Asian women. Seems to me what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Whites have no problem pairing POC with other POC in popular media. You can pair an Asian man with a white female lead, yes. Course the chemistry between the two would be toned down to the level of "buddy flick," with nary a kiss between them. He’ll be rendered sexless just like the black male; especially when cast opposite a white damsel. But in this video Monsieur Nov is clearly an alpha male. He gives off an air of self-confidence; and furthermore he has presence.

  3. Hot damn...both the lyrics and the video are STEAMY! Do your thing, Monsieur Nov. I'll be patiently awaiting my turn after he's done with that lovely brown lady. :)

Everyone appears to be making the observation. M. Nov's music is truly exquisite; I've sat and listened to him for hours. The French really works for him.

As long as only the black man gets to kiss the black woman. It's "hands off" to everyone else.

And I think that's the ultimate kicker. He's actually talented, needing no hypes, gimmicks, or vocal enhancements...which gives him a lot of say in his career.
