Black Mama, White Mama (1973)

Please tell me someone else has seen this ish.

I don't even know where to begin with this.  You've got women being waaaaay too "happy" in prison and Pam Grier looking epically stunning as usual while you just have to stop and wonder how much she got paid to do this ish.  'Cause you know it wasn't the "plot" which sold her on it.

Damn.  *shakes head*  Why do hetero men have such juvenile fantasies?  A hetero woman fantasizes about having money, going on cruises and first class flights, while sampling, ahem, the "delicacies" of various nations...while a hetero man dreams about nekkid bitches smacking each other and pulling hair.

Still not as bad as that pure fuckery entitled "Mandingo".

  2. Do NOT get me started on "Mandingo."

  3. I know I'm wrong for this shit, but I remember liking "Mandingo," if only because I watched it right after watching "Roots," so the fact that slaveowners were fucked up and reprehensible human beings didn't phrase me much.

  4. Were they aiming for The Defiant Ones in Panties? Mandingo? If we go there, I'll pluck my own eyeballs out.

  5. Somehow...this isn't how I envisioned my puerile het. male fantasy playing out. In fact, I think I'm actually confused...no...wait, I am confused. What is this crazy mess!? Where's the mud wrestling and for chocolate sauce for crying out loud! (j/k)

Also, Mandingo is just a whole 'nother level of what the f***ery.

  6. I could never bring myself to watch it. After the traumatizations that was "Manding" (seems I'm not alone), there was NO WAY I would watch this mess.

Seems that male fantasy remains juvenile and unevolved no matter what their age.

  7. *looks around* I've never watched either film, and there's a strong chance that I won't after this.

  8. I saw it years ago after stumbling upon it on cable. I don't remember much about it...which probably says a lot about the movies ahem, "qualities".

  9. I know it's all 70s-tastic, but it still gives me a migraine. The moment Pam Grier says "jive-ass", I feel the urge to hurl.

  10. I've actually never watched "Mandingo", by the way...never seen so much as a trailer, and for that I remain thankful.
