Widow, Sultry

In honor of my upcoming third book, I decided to have some pictures done.  Artist and photographer Chase Henderson came to my home last Wednesday and we had an interesting session.  Using my bed curtains as a background and an interesting choice of portable lights, he transported us both into another world.

The following are my favorites from from what I've fondly dubbed "The Widow Collection."

  1. Oh I dare not caption them but these pictures are really nice and the way you've placed them, it's like they tell a story...

  2. Please, I would like your permission to work from one or two of the Images. I find the lighting interesting, but a bit tempered. I find your mood wistful- sultry, introspective and defiant. Denoting strength and confidence.

I like #11 and #5. Now mind you I'll be rendering an interpretation of the image. It won't look 'just like you' as I'm looking to add a spiritual quality to the piece. You will serve as the 'source'... my muse so to speak.

  5. These pictures might be nicer if you smiled! Take some time out from all isms you write about!

  6. Speaking as a photographer, let me tell you the pics are amazing. Love the contrast of the colors, the tone and mood set. Granted it's easy to take good pictures when you have a beautiful subject but still...

    My personal faves: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11.

Have you started work on the images yet? Just curious.

  13. Dearest, I got the impression that you were too busy and simply forgot. You have a lot on your plate and I didn’t want to use the images without your express permission. Please forgive me for not speaking up sooner. Now that I've re-read your post, maybe you already gave me permission but I misinterpreted the response.

I still want to do the work. I try to think several pieces ahead of time. I’m just finishing work on my present piece in which time I'll be ready to render yours. You have the face for it and I would like to see what I can do with it. I’m not looking for an exact likeness you understand… but rather your face will be used as inspiration. The first thing that came to mind was, "Thicker Braids."

Once finished you’re welcomed to a digital copy which can be taken to a printer where a Photo Print can be produced from it. You also have the right to reproduce the digital copy for whatever purpose you chose. I’ll keep the original if that’s ok.

Once again I'm very sorry for not getting back with you. I like #11, #5 and #2. Hopefully it won't take long.

    Finished:
Now remember: "It won't look 'just like you' as I'm looking to add a spiritual quality to the piece. You will serve as the 'source'... my muse so to speak."

So please don't be too hard on me.

I usually review my pieces on the PC to scrutinize them up close. I’ve caught an area along the left cheek where I need to clarify the braid. Not sure why I missed that. Once I do that you're welcome to a digital copy. It’s about 5-7Mb in size. Thank you again for allowing me use of the image.

  17. You can download the 6Mb version here. I tweaked it just a bit. Thanks again.
